Youngest house as we are, we came into being in 1983 with our motto, ‘Defence not Defiance’. We Degruytherites prove to be what our logo symbolizes, i.e. ‘A Fighter’ given to defence not defiance.
We were christened after Miss. A. De Gruther former Principal (August, 1918-December, 1939). Our first Housemaster was Mr. V.N. Bhatt and since then, we have grown under the able leadership of Mr. Easter Lal, Mr. A. Bakshi, Mr. J.S. Negi and presently Mr. D.P.S. Gupta, who is also an Ex-Thomasian himself.
We have 493 proud Degruytherites who live up to the spirit of being fighters who believe that the toughest thing about success is that you go to keep on being a success.
Our prefects are selected, based on their overall performances throughout their school lives. Ranging from academics to their co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, their discipline and leadership qualities. Degruytherites have always carried their flag high, be it on a games field or the cultural activities. Under the able guidance of our experienced house teachers. We have excelled in cricket, badminton and have special talent for football.
We have always performed exceptionally well in the Inter-House quizzes, debates, elocutions as well as in the Inter-School activities and Degruytherites have shone in the various categories.
Time and time again Degruyther House has produced players who have played in the District and National levels in sports while quite a few students have led the college as College Captains. We are proud to have produced eminent personalities of the society imbibing in them virtues of patience, humbleness and endurance as being taught to every Degruytherite according to our motto-‘Defence not Defiance’.
Nor snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night can stay the Degruytherites from the swift completion of our goal. I’m a fighter and will always be one….
