St. Thomas’ College, Dehradun, in its ongoing Centenary year, show cased the Centenary Sports, P.T. & Gymnastics Display.
The event was organised on the historical Rangers’ College playground which commenced at 2:00 pm . The display opened with the colourful carnival put-up by the Junior and Middle school children, followed by the elegant opening march past done by the four houses namely Burn, Cole, Degruyther & Fraser.
The programme comprised of various P.T’s and races which also included the Relay Race of the Ex-Students V/s the Present Students. The competition between past and the present was worth watching.
Gymnastics by the school students displayed flexibility, endurance and determination.
The Tug-0-War event between the two houses i.e. Burn House & Fraser House grabbed the attention of one and all present under the tents. It was finally the time for the show stoppers, the Army Personnel known as the “Dare Devils” performed stunts on their roaring motor cycles which enthralled one and all. The daring feat of courage gave every one Goosebumps as it was a rare spectacle witnessed at any Sport and PT. Display of any school in Dehradun.
The Centenary Sports, P.T. & Gymnastics Display concluded with the closing marchpast by the four houses.
The Chief Guest, General S.K. Saini, YSM, VSM and Commandant, Indian Military Academy, Dehradun in his speech congratulated the Principal and the students of St. Thomas’ College, Dehradun for putting up a great show of discipline strength, endurance and agility. He emphasized on the precision in which the sport day was conducted.
The Principal and MLA, Mr. R.V. Gardner in his vote of thanks expressed his gratitude towards the Chief Guest for sparing his precious time for being a part of the Centenary Sports, PT & Gymnastic Display of St. Thomas’ College, Dehradun. He also congratulated the students and the staff for the efforts they had put in to make the show a grand success.
