St. Thomas’ College, Dehradun witnessed its Centenary Speech & Prize Day, celebrating its 100 sedulous years of quality education bestowed to the society.
During the ongoing Centenary Celebrations, the school was proud to honour its meritorious students who brought laurels and fame to the college in the fields of academics and well as sports.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was His Excellency Dr. K.K. Paul, Hon’ble Governor of Uttarakhand who gave away the awards to the meritorious students. The guest of Honour was Lt. Gen. Rakesh Sharma, UYSM, AVSM, VSM, Adjutant General, Integrated Headquarters, New Delhi and an Ex-Thomasian, who gave away the trophies to the students who excelled in the field of various sports.
Later on, the MLA and Principal Mr. R.V. Gardner read out the achievements of the school to one and all present on the occasion.
The Chief Guest His Excellency Mr. K.K. Paul, Governor of Uttarakhand in his speech congratulated the Principal, Staff and Students of St. Thomas’ College, Dehradun on achieving the mile stone of 100 glorious years of imparting quality education to every section of the society.
The guest of Honour was Lt. Gen. Rakesh Sharma, UYSM, AVSM, VSM, an Ex-Thomasian, came all the way from New Delhi to pay respect to his alma-mater. In his speech, he spoke of the reminiscence of the life he lived as a pupil in St. Thomas’ College and said that the education which he received at St. Thomas’ played a very vital role in his life. He also inspired the students to live up to the motto of the College, “Build Ye High and Build Ye True”.
The other distinguished guests present on the occasion were Mr. W.R. Gardner, Former Principal, Laidlaw Memorial School, Ketti, Mr. Ashok Verma, Chairperson, Commission for Other Backward Classes, Govt. of Uttarakhand, Mr. G.I.G. Mann, Principal, Carman School, Dalanwala, Mrs. J. Kumar, Principal Carman School, Premnagar, Lt. Gen. Ashok Vasudeva, Ex-Thomasian, Mr. & Mrs. Mohan Malhotra, Mr. & Mrs. Malcom Shepherd, the Ex-Students of the 1966 batch who are also celebrating their Golden Jubilee this year after passing out from St. Thomas’ College and many Ex-Thomasians and Parents joined us in our Centenary celebration.
In his vote of thanks MLA and Principal, Mr. R.V. Gardner thanked the Chief Guest, His Excellency, Dr. K.K. Paul, Hon’ble Governor of Uttarakhand and the Guest of Honour, Lt. Gen. Rakesh Sharma for being a part of our Centenary celebrations. He also congratulated the meritorious students who received the awards and proved their mettle in the fields of academics and sports.
The programme concluded with the hope to see many more promising students to receive awards in the coming years.
